There was a moment during the April 9th session where you could feel the shift. It happened when people started connecting what we were saying to what’s already happening inside their own practice.
Up until that point, it’s easy to stay in observer mode. You listen, take notes, and tell yourself you’ll look into it later. There’s no pressure there, because nothing is being asked of you yet.
Then the conversation changes. Instead of talking about what’s possible, you start looking at what’s already happening. You begin asking better questions about why certain things feel different than they used to.
Why are some patients showing up more informed than before? Why do some conversations feel easier, while others take more effort to move forward? Why does it seem like certain patients already trust you before you’ve even had a real discussion?
That’s where it gets uncomfortable. Because the answer isn’t more marketing, better scripts, or another tool. The answer is that decisions are being shaped earlier than most practices realize.
And if you’re not part of that early stage, you’re stepping into a conversation that’s already halfway over. You’re not starting from neutral anymore. You’re trying to influence a decision that has already begun forming somewhere else.
That realization lands a little heavier than most people expect. Because it means the issue isn’t effort or even skill. It’s position.
Some practices are already sitting in a stronger position than they realize. They’re easier to understand, their message is clearer, and their authority shows up consistently across different places. When patients go looking for answers, those practices are more likely to be included in what they find.
Other practices are still doing what has always worked. Good dentistry, solid service, and consistent effort are still there. But they are finding that it takes more time and more explanation to reach the same outcome.
That’s not because the patients are worse. It’s because the decision has already started to form before the conversation even begins. And once you see that, it becomes difficult to ignore.
The good news is you don’t need to rebuild everything to adjust. You don’t need to chase every tool or try to keep up with every new idea. But you do need to understand where you fit into the decision process now.
If you were on the session, this is the part worth revisiting. Not what was said, but what it means for your practice. The better question is whether you are reinforcing a decision that’s already leaning in your favor or trying to change one that isn’t.
If you missed it, or you want to go back through it with a clearer lens, everything is available to review.
