Today, I have something special for you.

One of the most influential thinkers and personal development coaches I’ve been exposed to is the businessman and writer Robert Collier. Robert is most well-known for his book “The Secret of the Ages,” one I’ve had the pleasure to peruse while exploring the vaults of the Secrets of Success Society.  

Collier’s writing often emphasizes the power of the mind, the power of positive thinking, and the use of visualization to manifest desired outcomes.

Recently, Russell Brunson, founder of the Secrets of Success Society (Among other things), led a discussion with the group about The Secrets of The Ages. I was pleased that we landed on many of the same valuable points and takeaways.

I found the information in Collier’s book so valuable that I decided to share it with you today.

1. The power of goal setting. I firmly believe that if you don’t have a vision of where you want to go, you’ll get nowhere fast. This is why I love business plans. I have one for eLaunchers, which my wife Dipa and I revisit annually.   I love business plans because they strategically outline where a business is today and the owner’s goals for the next six months, two years, and decade.  

Setting goals is crucial if you want to achieve anything of value. To set meaningful goals, they must be clear, concise, achievable, and aligned with your values. The best types of goals allow for immediate rewards and future opportunities or growth.   If you get good at setting goals like these, they will aid you in accomplishing what you want in business and your personal life.

2. Once you’ve set your goals, spend time each day seeing yourself doing it.   Visualization is powerful. If your goal is to gain market share and attract a hoard of well-qualified prospects to your business, spend a little time each morning considering how you will do this. Strategize and see yourself doing the necessary things to achieve the desired results. Imagine how nice life will be when you have all the business you need and have so thoroughly crushed your goals that you must set the bar much higher for yourself next time just to keep things interesting.
3. Understand that limitations are largely self-imposed. You have an incredible amount of potential within yourself.   When you tap into that potential, you can achieve extraordinary things.

4. The final lesson I want to highlight today (Believe me, I could go on; this is only the tip of the iceberg) is your ability to Master Your Fate. When Collier talks about mastering your fate, he’s touching on your power to shape your destiny.

Now, we all know that “chance” happens. Some people win lotteries. Some people are struck by lightning. But these are the exceptions, not the rule. For most of us, our fate is determined by our daily choices and actions. This is wonderful because it means that our outcomes are, in large part, under our control. If you want to be healthy, there are experts you can consult on diet and exercise, and there are strategies you can follow to help you stay lean and in great shape.
